Universal Poker Hand Rankings

As A Beginning Poker Player, sometimes the most frustrating part of the game is figuring out if your hand out ranks your opponents. Here is a List of universal hand rankings from strongest to weakest for reference. Hand rankings are the same for all poker games.

Royal Flush: An Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten of the same suit.

A♣ K♣ Q♣ J♣ 10♣

Straight Flush: Five cards in sequence, of the same suit.

7 8 910 J

Four of a Kind: Four cards of the same rank, and one side card.

9 9♠ 9 9♣ 8♣

Full House: Three cards of the same rank, and two cards of a different, matching rank.

2 2♠ 4 4♠ 4

Flush: Five cards of the same suit.

K 10 9 4 2

Straight: Five cards in sequence.

3 4 5♠ 6 7♥

Three of a Kind: Three cards of the same rank, and two unrelated side cards.

7♠ 7 7 K♠ J♠

Two Pair: Two cards of a matching rank, another two cards of a different matching rank

J J K♠ K A♣

One Pair: Two cards of a matching rank, and three unrelated side cards.

High Card: Any poker hand that does not qualify under a category listed above.
